Every lady should be on the football field.
My mum has always made it known to me that football isn’t meant for girls right from my childhood. There were times I felt like playing football with my brothers but mum wouldn’t permit me to.
We have a couple of ladies that play football professionally for a living. And they are doing very well in their career. Ladies like Alex Morgan, Hope Solo, Hamby Wambach and so many great female footballers. They are really doing well in the female soccer world.
Recently, the BBC women footballer of the year had nominees like Melanie Behringer, Ada Hegerberg, Hedvig Lindahl, Marta, and Christine Sinclair. These are great women doing well in the world of female football.
Also, some of the women who were nominated to be the best FIFA Women’s player in 2017 are:
* Lucy Bronze (ENG – Manchester City Women / Olympique Lyonnais Feminin)
* Deyna Castellanos (VEN – Santa Clarita Blue Heat)
* Pernille Harder (DEN – Linkopings / VfL Wolfsburg (Women)
* Jodie Taylor (ENG – Arsenal Women)
* Sam Kerr (AUS – Perth Glory / Sky Blue FC)
* Carli Lloyd (USA – Houston Dash / Manchester City Women)
* Dzsenifer Marozsan (GER – Olympique Lyonnais Feminin)
* Lieke Martens (NED – FC Barcelona Femeni)
* Vivianne Miedema (NED – FC Bayern Munich Frauen / Arsenal Women)
* Wendie Renard (FRA – Olympique Lyonnais Feminin)
Lieke Martens is the winner of the best FIFA Women’s Player in 2017. All these statistics clearly shows that ladies also do well when they play football and other sports.
What even make you think that football as a sport is not meant for ladies in the first instance? Have you forgotten that whatever a man can do, a lady can also do better.
Football is meant for everybody. Let us say no gender discrimination against women in sports. All sports are meant to be played and enjoyed by every gender. Every lady should be on the football field and there are good reasons to back this up.
1. Mental exercise
The first reason why football game is good for ladies is that it helps us think better “on the run”. It boosts concentration skills and helps to reduce anxiety.
Your rate of assimilation will increase and it also helps the brain to think fast. The brain chemicals released during this type of exercise improves ones mood. It makes you feel happy and delightful.
2. Increase blood circulation
Football is good for maintaining health, fitness, strength and endurance. You will experience a general increase in your aerobic capacity and cardiovascular health. It also help in the circulation of blood flow in the body especially for those with heart attack.
When you play football, you’ll get the right form of health. Yes. The moment you engage yourself in any form exercise, you’ll begin to see improvement in your body system.
3. Burns unhealthy fat
Football lowers body fat and increase body tone. Women who exercise regularly (e.g. play football) are less likely to get breast cancer or osteoporosis. When you exercise often, it helps your body form its natural shape. This will improve your overall health because of the shifts between walking, running and sprinting.
4. Boosts self confidence
Playing sports boost self confidence. Girls who play football feel good about themselves. It increases your persistence level and self discipline. It’s a great opportunity to boost your self esteem.
5. Promotes teamwork and sharing
Football is relatively easy to learn but it is not a one person game. It’s played in teams which promotes teamwork and sharing. It’s also a great way to meet people and exercise with friends. You can either choose to play for fun or competitively.
Let me quickly share this with you:
I had a female friend in secondary school that played football and rode bicycle a lot back then. So many of the other girls in my class never liked her lifestyle and refuse to associate with her because she was seen as a tomboy.
That’s the mistake girls usually make. The moment you see a lady playing soccer, you begin to call her terrible names and isolate her. This isn’t meant to be so.
I can tell it to you now that she is looking very fit and at the same time making her money.
Learn how to encourage those women who cherish game. It’s actually one of the best forms of exercise in the world. In fact there’s no hatred in the game.
Don’t forget that ladies will always be called ladies. We are fragile. So, don’t overdo it. Mix it up with other low impact sports.
Another fear that most people have about ladies that play football is that they become too muscular and might not get a male admirer in their lives. No, it’s not done that way.
The fact that a lady plays or want to play soccer doesn’t mean she has to be doing all manner of difficult work outs. There are many beautiful ladies playing football with great figures.
So, there shouldn’t be any form of condemnation or discrimination. Let’s compliment one another and let’s not also forget to support ourselves.
